Meeting Highlights from the Clerk – 5/25/22

Trash Update 

Supervisor Deer stated he has spoken to Syracuse Haulers, and it was agreed that there would be a grace period for the next few months allowing people to switch out the 95-gallon bin they received with a 65-gallon bins at no cost. Supervisor Deer stated the town will being a list of residents that would like to receive the smaller bin. Supervisor Deer stated when new people sign up for service, they will be able to pick the size bin they want.

Open Podium

Doug Allen, Spyglass stated his concern is with the size of the trash cans. Mr. Allen stated Supervisor Deer answered his concerns in his opening statement.

Olga Stanton, Fayetteville asked if there could be a time where larger items could be put in the tote.

Scarlett Davidson, Kirkville spoke about how the 96-gallon bin is difficult to get down her 500-foot drive and is hoping the 65-gallon bin will work. Ms. Davidson stated if she opts out of the service it would be unfair if she is not reimbursed for the seven remaining months she paid for. Ms. Davidson stated she would like to see a better way of communication with the residents. Ms. Davidson asked that in the future the Board plan ahead so the residents will have an expiration time to review their options.

Amy Baxter, Manlius asked why only the 95-gallon bins were handed out. Ms. Baxter stated they did not see anything from the Town advising clearly of the changes or dates. Ms. Baxter asked when the three-month clock start ticking for the swap out. Ms. Baxter asked how these new changes will be communicated to the residents.

Barbara Henry, Fayetteville asked the Board to consider a way to communicate these kinds of changes to the community in a timelier manner.

Dick Walters asked if they would have 30-gallon bins available.

Pamela Page stated she had question concerning her HOA and that Supervisor Deer has answered those questions.

Joyce Sizing asked what happens if the bins get damaged.

Town Business

The Town Board authorized the Supervisor to sign a proclamation declaring the first Friday in June as “National Gun Violence Awareness Day”.

 The Town Board set a date of June 8, 2022, at 6:35 PM for a public hearing on the proposed Local Law 2022__ for Video Conferencing.

 The Town Board set a date of June 8, 2022, at 6:40 PM for a public hearing on the proposed Local Law 2022__ for Shed and Playscapes Building Permits.

 The Town Board authorized the Supervisor to sign the “2022 Manlius Infrastructure Grant Contract”.

 The Town Board authorized the Town Clerk to submit a TE-9 to NYSDOT for a speed reduction on Sweet Road.

 Upcoming Events

The Town Board work session with Abundant Solar on June 8th  has been cancelled.
